IPL Preview: Royal Challengers Bangalore

One thing which probably every cricket fan has a question about is 'how have RCB not managed to win the IPL with the kind of team they have had over the years?'

RCB have qualified for the playoffs on 5 occasions out of the 12 editions they have been part of. Three final appearances but no trophy to show for as they have failed to clear the last hurdle. They would be looking to improve on their bottom of the table finish last year.

A star-studded team with arguably two of the biggest superstars of the game. In captain Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers, RCB have two players who walk into any team in the world. The arrival of Aaron Finch and the presence of experienced all-rounder Moeen Ali will allow Virat and ABD to play more freely.

Local boy Devdutt Padikkal will be someone to keep an eye on as he has impressed previously in domestic matches. All-rounders Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris can score valuable runs in crunch situations while providing very useful pace & spin options for the team.

The fast bowling department will be bolstered by the arrival of legendary Dale Steyn. Youngsters Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj will have valuable lessons to learn from the experienced campaigner. Umesh Yadav will bring experience to the table and RCB will be hoping he steps up and perform match after match.

The spin department which will be key heading into this year’s edition in UAE has the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal who will be a senior figure for the likes of Washington Sundar, Pawan Negi. They will be hoping to make the most of the favourable conditions and dictate the game throughout the tournament.

RCB is too good a team to not win the IPL and the fans would be hoping that everything falls into place and it clicks this year. The way 2020 has been, a year of first times, this might very well be the year Kohli and co. to finally get their hands on the trophy.

As the fans fondly say "E Saal Cup Namde"
