A cliff-hanger at Auckland saw the White Ferns' edge out the Women in Blue by four wickets to take the 3-match T20I series 2-0.
India had a great opening when Arundhati Reddy nipped out Suzie Bates [62] and Anna Peterson [0] in one over to bring her side back into the game but requiring 9 off the final over, Leigh Kasperek [4] and Hannah Rowe [4] held their nerves to seal a nerve-wracking win for the hosts.
Mansi Joshi conceded a boundary through covers to Katey Martin off the first ball of the final over but came back very well to get Martin bowled. But, Rowe scraped through for a couple of runs the next ball and followed it up with a three, that tested India's nerves in the crunch moments.
Earlier, Suzie Bates, in her 110th T20I, scored a nicely compiled 62 to anchor the run-chase and stitched a 61-run stand with skipper Amy Satterthwaite after Radha Yadav had reduced them to 2-40.
This happened after yet another middle-order meltdown meant all the hard work done by Jeremiah Rodrigues, during her coming of age innings of 72 [53] was undone as India registered a sub-standard total of 6-135 with none of the batters barring Mandhana [36] and the former registering a double-digit score.
Suzie Bates has adjudged the 'Player of the Match' for her match-winning 62.
Brief Score-
